Events
Arkansas Advocates conducts various meetings, trainings and fundraisers that are held annually. The dates change from year to year so, exact dates, times and other information will be updated on our calendar.
- Annual meeting: December or January
- Soup Sunday: Generally
held one of the last Sunday's in February. Soup Sunday has been
a major fund raiser for AACF for the past 23 years. More than
30 local restaurants serve their specialty soups, gumbos and chili.
- Pre Legislative Conference: Held prior to the start of
a legislative session to discussion what to look for in the upcoming
session regarding issues important to our network of partners,
the Kids Count Coalition.
- Post Legislative Conference: Held following a legislative
session to discuss how the Governor and Legislature responded
to concerns outlined by the Kids Count Coalition in the pre-legislative
conference.
- Advocacy training: Held in various parts of the state
to train interested persons on the various aspects of becoming
an advocate, such as rules of lobbying.
- Family Economic Security
Conference: 2007 was the first year for this inaugural
event which brought together advocates, service providers, policy
makers and members of the faith community to discuss a wide variety
of issues relating to the economic security of Arkansas families.
