On June 28, 2017, at 5 p.m., Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families and KABF 88.3 aired the twenty fifth episode of “Speak Up Arkansas,” a talk radio show dedicated to covering issues like health care, education, juvenile justice, the state budget, family and economic security, and more.

This week’s episode featured panel members are LaKese Henry (Assistant Director of Women and Children First),Pat Blackstone (Court Advocate for Women and Children First), and an unnamed current shelter resident. Domestic Violence is the 3rd leading cause of homelessness among families. In this segment, panelists discuss factors contributing to the prevalence of domestic violence in Arkansas, the impact it has on the livelihood of children who witness it, and its enormous economic impact from healthcare costs to work place issues such as safety and productivity.
