A recent study by the research group Child Trends found that children in Arkansas are more likely to have an adverse childhood experience than children in any other state, making adverse childhood experiences a major public health issue for Arkansas. From stress caused by poverty to trauma caused witnessing a parent’s drug abuse, adverse childhood experiences can have a significant impact on a child’s overall well-being. In this show, we discuss what adverse childhood experiences are, what treatment options are available, and what public policies can address it.
