Urge Senators to vote for Kerry/Murray Amendment Today
Urge Senators to vote for Kerry/Murray Amendment Today
Posted by Candice S. Smith on March 9th 2010

Arkansas could lose jobs and revenue; ask our Senators to vote for the Kerry/Murray amendment today.

Urge Senators to vote Yes

The U.S. Senate will vote today on a critical amendment to Temporary Assistance to Needy Families ("TANF") legislation proposed by Senator John Kerry and Senator Patty Murray to add funds to expand summer youth activities. The amendment as it now stands would extend the TANF Emergency Fund for six months until March 31, 2011 and provide resources for Arkansas to implement a subsidized employment program to create 600 new subsidized jobs by September 2010. An extension without also allowing the state to receive additional dollars above the current maximum amount would be of limited use to the state and would only allow a small number of continuing or new subsidized jobs.

Please call our Senators today and tell them:

"Hello, my name is _________ and I live at ______. I'd like to speak to the person who is working on the TANF legislation. I'm calling to make sure that Senator _________________ votes YES on the Kerry/Murry Amendment to make sure that the bill includes investments in summer youth activities and 600 new jobs for Arkansans.
