On Wednesday, March 6, hundreds gathered on the steps of the State Capitol to show their support for affordable health coverage for all Arkansans. Advocates came from all areas of the state to encourage lawmakers to work together and find a way to extend health coverage under the Affordable Care Act. Each of the speakers, including Gov. Beebe, talked about the importance of affordable health coverage (video here) but perhaps the most convincing appeal was made by Faye Graham.

Graham has cancer and no insurance. She called herself one of the “newly poor,” unable to find work though she has an advanced degree. For her, affordable health coverage isn’t a political football, it’s a necessity, and one that could save her life. Please watch her story posted above.
