Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families does not receive federal funding, or any government funding for that matter. That helps give us the independence and credibility we need to do our jobs to advocate for better public policy at both the state and federal level. So, while our work is not directly affected by cuts to federal grants, or other government budget cuts, we fight back against cuts because of the negative impact they would have on children and families in our state.
Through building relationships with staff in D.C. and collaborating with our partners, AACF advocates for policies that could improve the well-being of Arkansans. AACF staff meets with Arkansas’s U.S. Senators and Congresspeople when possible to provide data and analysis that highlight ways they can improve the lives of every Arkansan.
Even from a distance, Arkansans can advocate for federal policy changes. From raising awareness about the importance of a Complete Count in the U.S. Census to pushing for improved access to basic needs programs, every voice can make a difference, including yours! If you only have a minute a week, or all the time in the world, you can use your voice to push for good laws and fight back against bad laws, to help your own well-being and that of your fellow Arkansans.
