Has your family been impacted by the recent changes to the child care voucher program (School Readiness Assistance)? If so, we want to hear your story. 

Changes and impact could include: 

  • Added copayment you didn’t have before 
  • Not being able to afford the changes 
  • Losing your child’s spot 
  • Impact on your job or education program 
  • Child care provider closing its doors

Everyone is an advocate, and time is your greatest resource, including the time you spend writing your story. Our goal is to create positive change by sharing your stories.  

Your story may be used on AACF social media or shared with partner organizations to use on their social media accounts. It could be used to express impacts to legislators, state agency staff, commissioners, or other advocates. Your story and your voice are important, and we want to help lift those up.

Background Information

On September 19, 2025, the Office of Early Childhood at the Arkansas Department of Education announced changes to School Readiness Assistance, the child care voucher program. The changes included added and higher copayments for families. These new copayments began on October 1, 2025.  

The amount of your new family copayments depends on your household income, how many and the age of the children you have in the program, what area of the state you live in, whether you use part-time or full-time care, and the provider you use.
