AACF staff, board members and supporters gathered on a very cold Jan. 7, 2010 to recognize three current and former state legislators who’ve made a difference in the lives of children.
State Sens. Shane Broadway and Hank Wilkins were presented with Friend of Children awards for their work in helping vulnerable Arkansas children and families. Both lawmakers are facing term limits and are serving their final terms. We also presented a Friend of Children award to the family of the late Jodie Mahony, a long-time legislator who passed away in December 2009.
We also thanked our outgoing board chairman, Freeman McKindra, for his leadership and support during the year and welcomed incoming 2010 board president Willa Black Sanders to the helm. Other outgoing board members honored were Alice Hines and Ray Hanley. New members on the 2010 board are Jim Argue and Maricella Garcia. Welcome!
